Diane Stormont

Diane Stormont has worked as a journalist in Asia since 1981. She spent over a decade years at Reuters, the last two as Hong Kong Bureau Chief during the historic 1997 handover of Hong Kong to China.

She carried out a plethora of short-term assignments throughout the region and was posted for three years to South Korea.

Since leaving Reuters, she has filed for a wide range of publications including the Daily Telegraph, The Economist, the Daily Deal and Lloyd’s List Maritime Asia.

Her favourite story was the 1997 Hong Kong handover. Her worst assignment was covering the civil war in Sri Lanka. She developed an aversion to teargas in Seoul.

In addition to journalism, she conducts media training, designs web pages and consults on internet-related technology.

Diane was President of the Hong Kong Foreign Correspondents’ Club from 1998-99 and President of the Seoul Foreign Correspondents’ Club from 1991-92.
